Standing Out in a Sea of Social Media

Although social media has been around for quite a while at this point, there are still ways to improve upon what you are doing for your business up to this point. Because there is so much information coming at you online and so many interactions among people, you need to have a hook, something that makes you stand out in the sea of social media conversations that are going on all around you.

Your efforts will definitely pay off

Even though it may be challenging at times to really get noticed and to offer something that the other person feels is so unique that he or she must have it, your efforts to elevate yourself above the crowd is still worthwhile and those efforts will definitely pay off. As you are crafting your content marketing strategy, you will want to come up with some creative ideas to differentiate yourself and your brand from everyone else and from what they are offering.

If, at this point, you are wondering just how you are going to accomplish that uniqueness, there are several different approaches that you can take.

  • Find the right discussions (or start them yourself): Online discussions are a really important part of your brand’s success. You don’t necessarily have to start the discussions yourself. However, you do need to find and identify the most appropriate discussions and become a part of them. You will want to find discussions that focus on topics (or sub-topics) about which you have a solid amount of knowledge.

The reason for that is that you will want to give something substantial to the other participants in the discussion. After all, you are trying to build relationships through the discussion and the only way to successfully do that is if you convince the other people that you are the subject matter expert and that you are the best choice when it is time for them to choose to hire someone like you or to buy a product and/or service from someone like you.

A discussion is an excellent forum for you to demonstrate how valuable you are without actually having to come out and say that you are valuable. Of course, you are probably well aware of the fact that you are the only person who cannot blow your own horn.

  • Customize your content to engage others: If you want to engage other people (which you definitely do), your content needs to be compelling and different than other people’s content. It is that simple. Your content needs to establish the human/emotional connection with the person on the other end so that the things that you share in common come to light. The fact is that everyone has a story. You just need to tell your story in a way that touches the other person. If you are able to do that, you will be able to establish a meaningful connection and your relationship will begin.

Once you have been able to establish your relationship with the other person, you will probably find a greater number of shared experiences than you realized previously. You have a lot of opportunities to be creative when it comes to telling your story. Everyone not only has a story but everyone’s story is interesting. It is just a matter of how you tell your story.

  • Create awareness about your value and the value of your brand: The truth is that you understand exactly how valuable you are but that doesn’t necessarily mean that the other person understands your value to the same extent. You may have to show them. The best way to give another person the perception that you are worth it and that you have the ability to solve his or her problem is to be religious about your interactions with that person.

The more you interact with the other person, the more they will want to be engaged with you. That is an effective way to keep yourself and what you offer at the front of the mind of the other person.  The more you engage with the other person, the stronger your relationship will become, which means that you will have built trust and credibility between you.

Conclusion

Standing out in this world of technology and social networks is not always an easy thing to accomplish. However, if you build the right moves into your content marketing strategy and you put in the right amount of effort, you will start to see the positive results that you were hoping for. If you don’t see results as quickly as you would like, don’t panic. Those results will happen. You just need to be patient for a little while and everything will fall into place. Make sure that you listen to what the other person wants and needs and do your best to give it to him or her. That alone will make you stand out in the sea of social insanity (in a good way) that is all around you.
