Ways to Inspire Profound Creativity

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

If you are a strong, experienced writer, that doesn’t necessarily mean that you don’t get stuck once in a while. Every writer experiences writer’s block on occasion. That is not important. It is expected. What is important, however, is knowing how to get past it so that the content that you create continues to be exciting, compelling, and engaging.

Inspiration comes in many forms and at many different times

As difficult as it is to get over a block, there are ways to conquer it and they are not that difficult but they can be really effective.

  • Mix it up: The content that you write should be diverse and really interesting. There are many ways to break free of a rut that you may be experiencing.

If you have written in one particular style up to this point, you may want to consider taking a different approach, such as putting a checklist into your content, writing a how-to guide, writing a cheat sheet, making a short but powerful video, or writing an interview of an influencer. These are all approaches that will probably serve you well and people will respond positively to what you are posting.

  • Pull ideas from the news:  When it comes to finding inspiration, the news is a wonderful source of ideas. You can always find something relevant and appropriate for your particular business if you search the news sites. You can start with a broad search and become more specific as you go. Your searches may turn up some really interesting information that you can use.

  • Recycle your old content (as long as it is evergreen): The truth is that the content that you wrote previously can probably be used again. In all likelihood, the most that you will need to do to it will be to update certain details. Other than that (assuming that it is very well written), it will be a piece of cake.

You can recycle your old content in a few different ways: you can update an existing piece of content, you can take several connected articles and make a series of them, and you can present a new angle on already-existing content. Actually, you don’t have to stick to just one approach. You can try all three and then you can see which one is working best for your particular business.

  • Watch your competition like a hawk: Keeping an eye on your competitors doesn’t mean that you are going to take their ideas directly. However, it is very important for you to understand that you have a great deal to learn from them. You will want to allow your competitors to inspire you to write amazing content. That is how you should be looking at this. Additionally, you may want to interact with your competitors and try to form some sort of strategic partnership. There is no question that your competitors could add a great deal of value to your brand/business.

  • Find out what your target audience members think: You may find that in many cases, your target audience members prove to be extremely inspiring. They will probably be extremely forthcoming with their ideas and those ideas may be of great use to you when it comes to your own writing. Your target audience can really help you and there is no end to the number of inspirational ideas that they may be able to share with you.

Conclusion

There are many different ways to grab inspiration for your writing. You can become inspired by other people, other people’s writing, videos, relevant quotes, and any other number of pieces of communication. If you are having a difficult time writing, you may want to step away from everything and everyone for a short time and just clear your mind. Those inspirational ideas may just come flowing back. On a very basic level, think about your passions and tap into those. That is often a great way to come up with wonderfully creative, dynamic, compelling, engaging ideas that will inspire other people as well.
