Digg is a great social bookmarking site that consists of a community of readers who share newsworthy, interesting information, including blog posts, stories, and videos, with other readers.

Digg has a huge number of visitors per month. Digg functions the same way as Yahoo Buzz. You “dig” the articles that you enjoyed reading by clicking on the button. The owner of the blog site will already have installed the Digg button and the button appears at the bottom of every blog post. If Digg readers find the post interesting, they click the Digg button. The more Digg readers who click on that post, the more traffic is generated to that website.

If you are trying to increase your online reputation, you will want to make sure to digg information that is relevant to what you are offering. In Digg, you are taking part in an online social community where you vote for the best content on a particular topic.

You must have seen the Digg icon on various blogs that you read. If you click on the Digg icon, what you are reading will be shared with other members of the Digg community. This process is called social bookmarking.

With Digg, just like with any other social media tool, it won’t do anything to help your online marketing efforts if you don’t get engaged and continue to be engaged.

Digg is a tremendous way to drive a great deal of traffic to your website without any cost. If your content gains popularity on Digg, it has a strong chance of turning viral. In other words, bloggers will start to use your content on their websites with a link that leads back to your website. Another great thing about Digg is that your content will be picked up quickly and indexed by the search engines, which is definitely what you want.

When you log onto your Digg account, a number of stories will appear that were dug (liked) and thus appear on the home page of Digg. Your goal as far as your content is concerned is to share it as much as possible with the Digg community. Ultimately, you want your content to appear on the home page of Digg also.

Getting started on Digg

To get started on Digg, go to http://www.Digg.com and register to become a member. It doesn’t cost anything. Next, you need to create your profile and make sure that it is complete. After you have done all of that, you need to start digging stories that are a good fit for your niche or that have some other value worth sharing.

Participation and involvement with other diggers are of utmost importance. You should make it a point to leave comments on their digs. If you want, you can also dig your own blog posts, however, don’t overdo it. Make certain that you have a good balance of other people’s content and your own content.

Social bookmarking allows more people to visit your website in a smaller amount of time. This will result in more prospects for your business and, eventually, more customers. Digg (along with other social bookmarking sites) is a fantastic way to attract more attention to your business. The more you use it, the stronger your business will be.
