Highlighting Your Portfolio of Published Content

content marketing
Print Friendly, PDF & Email

You have worked really hard, week in and week out, to post content that will touch other people and that will help other people to solve their problems. Your content is not only well written but it also fulfills the needs and wants of the people who are reading every word that you are writing. Your content is applicable today and it will be applicable next week, next month, and next year. With that in mind, the question is how do you highlight the content that you have published over time?

Finding a way to share your content so that it is enduring

It is true that fresh content is very important. Nobody wants to keep reading the same old content over and over again. However, at the same time, you also don’t want to write content that disappears and is totally useless as soon as you publish it. That just seems like a waste of your talent, time, and effort.

Well, never fear because you can promote your content (content that is more recent and content that was written a long time ago) effectively so that you get the maximum bang for your buck.

When it comes to content promotion, there are two different approaches that you can take. You can promote your content without paying for it or you can pay to promote your content. Many people swear by paid promotion but there are many different ways in which you can promote your content and produce positive results without spending a large portion of your budget.

You can try a few different methods and then you can decide which one works for your particular brand and your particular business.

  • Use public content profiles: If you keep your content in one repository, your target audience members will have an easy time finding your content. If they can find your content easily, they will probably be much more willing to read more of your content. The fact is that if they read more of your content, they will get to know who you are and to connect with your brand. If that happens, you will have a much easier time of establishing a relationship with them.

Of course, that is one of your most important goals. If you can give access to your content portfolio to those people, the rest of the pieces will fall into place easily. There is a lot to be said for having your content live in one place. It makes everything so much easier.

  • Use the LinkedIn publishing feature for your content: LinkedIn is probably the most effective social network for professionals. Everyone should have an active, complete profile on LinkedIn and everyone should leverage LinkedIn to its full potential. You can use the publishing feature to share your background (bio, resume, etc.) and your content.

You may be surprised at how many people check you out and check out your content. The convenience makes it so easy for them and you should take the opportunity to really show other people what you can do and to interact with them on a deeper level.

  • Use links in your Email signature and other messages: Once you have gotten the other person’s attention through Email, they will probably be willing to click on a link that you have embedded in your Email signature. It is all about convenience. Again, you make it so easy for the other person to get to know you on a deeper level.

Links are critical to your business’ success because they are the only way that the other person has to be able to connect with you and your brand. If you use away messages, you can also take the opportunity to embed links in those messages as well. Many people may be inclined to click on those links to learn more about what you do and to see if there is a way that you can help them.

  • Enable sales through your content: It is a known fact that using content in your sales effort will most likely produce very positive results. It is a guarantee that other people will be reading your content on a semi-regular basis (or a regular basis). That is exactly what you are hoping to accomplish.

If you pay close attention to feedback from prospective and current clients, you can write about it and your content will address issues that are very important to your target audience members. Without your target audience members, you will have much less to say. Their thoughts, feelings, needs, wants, and opinions are extremely important and they are very tied to the success or failure of your business.

Conclusion

Highlighting all of your content is a really intelligent and important thing to do. It will definitely produce positive results. Your content is your calling card, especially for people who don’t really know you yet. Each piece of content that you write is worthy of a unique description so that it is attractive to your target audience. Just remember that the last thing that you need or want is to write amazing content (spending all of that effort, time, creativity, etc.) only to have it sitting there, gathering dust after being posted once.
