Getting Your Readers to Read Your Blogs to the End

You are a diligent blog writer and you put a lot of effort into writing top-quality content that you hope will resonate with your writers. However, what you want to happen doesn’t always happen. You need to figure out ways to make sure that your readers are moved enough by your blog content to want to read all of the way to the end.

Overcoming the challenge

It is not safe to assume that the people who read the title of your blog and, perhaps, your first (teaser) paragraph will necessarily follow through and read all of your blog. In the best of all possible worlds, that would happen every time. However, in the real world in which we live, very frequently, people don’t read the entire blog. Often, they don’t have the time but, even more often, they don’t have the patience. If your content doesn’t really grab them, the three seconds that you have will be used up very quickly, never to return.

There are actually some tips that may help you to engage your readers to the point where they will want to read everything (or, at least, most of it) that you post online. One thing that you need to keep in mind is the fact that you have so much competition that may be an obstacle in the way of what you are trying to accomplish. Everyone has competitors, no matter what they think.

You may have a need to pinpoint the reasons why readers don’t stay engaged. There could be many possible reasons, such as a lack of focus, a lack of time, or simply a busy schedule. However, don’t be discouraged by that because all hope is certainly not lost. You need to focus on those readers who you are reasonably certain will stick with you.

On the other hand, you should be prepared to embrace all of the criticism that you may receive about your blog content. That means the negative criticism as well as the positive criticism. In fact, if you think about it, you will probably learn the most from the negative criticism even though the positive criticism makes you feel all warm and fuzzy.

It is important not to lose sight of the fact that all of those people are engaged. When you first start to engage people with your blog content, you may find that you are struggling a bit. However, the more top-quality content you share with other people, the stronger your relationship with those people will be and the more those people will believe in your credibility, trust you, and consider you an expert in your field.

Of course, at this point, you may be wondering how you manage to engage people in the first place. So, what approach should you take in order to get your readers to read your blog content all of the way to the end?

  • Chill out: The fact is that no matter how hard you try, you will never get 100% of your readers to read your content to the end. The best that you can hope for is for a large percentage of them to read your blogs entirely. You need to remember not to dwell on the people who don’t. What is important is the number of people who do. It is important to keep in mind that not everyone is one is a part of your target audience. You need to concentrate on those who are a part of your target audience. What you will want to do is to care for the relationships that you share with those people. You want to make them understand how important they are to you and to your business.

  • Work with focused accuracy: You need to know exactly who your audience is and concentrate on giving those people what they want and need (to the best of your ability). That may take you longer and you may have to work harder than you think to determine exactly what that is. People generally will not tell you what they want and need in any meaningful way until they trust you and that takes time in most cases. Remember to always be genuine, sincere, and altruistic. You should focus on satisfying their needs before meeting your own. You must acquire enough of a sense of who your target audience members are as people before you can get close to giving them what they want and need.

  • Speak to them through your content: Whatever you post online must resonate with your target audience. Make sure that you are driven by WIIFM? (What’s In It For Me?). In other words, no matter how amazing you, your branding, and your business are, you need to concentrate on solving the other person’s problems. If you can’t do that, there will be nowhere for you to go. On the other hand, if you manage to accomplish that, those people will become loyal to you and to your brand. It is well worth the effort. Of course, if new opportunities present themselves for you to engage other people outside of that circle, definitely go for it. Then you can count them among your loyal connections.

Conclusion

You don’t live in an “all or nothing” world. If you manage to get readers to read a decent chunk of your content, that may be good enough to engage them. It all depends on the mindset of the other person. Of course, for your part, you need to make your content and your interactions as appealing and attractive as you possibly can. It is important to remember that the work is not done once you post the blog. That is only the beginning. You will probably have a number of readers who are not passionate about what you post but are interested enough to check it out. You have the ability to turn those people into loyal connections. Remember, it is important that you don’t dwell on those people who are unwilling to read your blog content. Instead, focus on those people who have the potential to become your clients.
