Whether you know it or not, social proof is an extraordinarily important part of your business’s success. It is what cements your business with your clients and prospective clients. It is what affirms that you are who you say you are professionally and that you are capable of doing what you say you can do.

What is social proof?

Social proof can come in many different forms, which is why you may not realize that your business successfully shows social proof all of the time. Social proof can be demonstrated as testimonials from clients (either written or as a video), reviews of your products and/or services, videos of your giving a presentation, and your connections on the various social media channels with which you are connected. If is very important that you recognize the importance of being able to show social proof for the sake of your business. Other people will insist on that and they are completely justified in feeling that way. In fact, that may mean the difference between your having a short-term relationship with your prospective and existing clients and your having a long-term, solid relationship that will stand the test of time. Undoubtedly (and all human beings feel this way), people will generally not be comfortable if nobody else has tried your products and/or services before they have. They want some sort of guarantee that whatever you are ultimately selling is worth the money that they are going to be willing to spend.

Surround your business with influencers

When it comes to social proof, there are several different types of people who should be a part of your professional existence. The reason for that is that they are going to help you to bring your business to the next level and it will definitely be more difficult without them in your corner. They are:

  • Salespeople: Salespeople are essential for your success because they have the gift of selling anything to anyone, not matter what it is. They accomplish this with charm, charisma and just enough emotion to affect the prospective buyer without making them feel negative in any way. When a salesperson is finished “selling” to the other person, that other person will be totally convinced that he or she is better off if they buy whatever is being sold. Salespeople are tremendously influential and if being able to sell is not your gift, you need to find someone who possesses that gift and can do it for you.

  • Connectors: Connectors are people who are liked by other people. They have appeal for many different groups of people and it is very easy for them to make new connections on a regular basis. Once they have established connections, they can introduce you to their new connections. This can be tremendously beneficial for your business.

  • Mavens: Mavens are thirsty for new information on a regular basis. They feel rewarded by helping others and they are extremely knowledgeable so that have a great deal to contribute to other people. This is very beneficial for your business because they are constantly establishing valuable connections with other people, who in turn will want to connect and interact with you because you are associated with the mavens.

Your continued success

If you heed this advice and connect with the combination of people that were discussed here, you will enjoy elevated business success. It is very important to realize that not everyone will buy what you are selling; however, if you do it right and surround yourself with the right people, you will sell a great deal more than you would otherwise.

Conclusion

Human beings tend to look at what other people are doing and do the same thing. If they notice that other people are paying particular attention to something, they want to know what all the fuss is about. If other people are buying into it, it must be worth something (in their minds). That is exactly where the social proof comes into it. Interestingly, if won’t be as difficult as you think to gather social proof (or merely identify it if you already possess a great deal of social proof) for your business. You will see that if some of your online business connections think that your social proof is valuable, other people will think so also. As a human being, no matter how trusting you are, you will still require that whoever is making a claim about what they can do in their business, you will want to see the evidence to back it up. You can show social proof in every aspect of your web presence and a great and effective way of doing that is though your calls to action. If people are willing to do whatever you are asking of them, the proof will be right there.
