You may ask “What is Twellow”? Twellow is a new search directory that combines Twitter, the Yellow Pages, search engines, and other Internet directories. Twellow also takes all Twitter followers and arranges them according to their popularity.

Each user has a page with his or her profile and the option to write an extended biography on him or her and on his or her businesses. All of the information is taken directly from the person’s Twitter page. In Twellow, one of the features that is especially useful is the categories section. This section lets the user search through business categories that are similar to their own categories. The results of the search are displayed in order of followers on Twitter.

The following are some of Twellow’s most endearing features:

  • Add yourself to a specific directory: This is useful because other people can find you easily if you do this

  • A potential for 10 categories: You are allowed to add yourself to a maximum of 10 categories, which gives you thousands of possibilities and will really enable you to narrow down your target market(s)

  • Tweet from Twellow: This feature is a real convenience, especially if you are used to tweeting frequently

The Twellow Extended Bio tool allows the follower up to 2,000 characters that can be added to his or her profile in order to expand on what his or her business offers. Basic HTML formatting is also available so that the followers profile will be more differentiated than others’ profiles. Once you have an extended bio, your listings in Twellow will have a button that says “Click to view my extended bio!”

Regarding the followers with whom you are connected on Twitter, the quality of them is more important than the quantity. The high-quality followers are the ones who are interested in what you have to say. Those followers will be more likely to buy your products and/or services eventually. It makes no sense for you to waste your time with followers with whom you have no real business connection.

As wonderful as Twellow is, one thing to be careful of is that it also leaves you wide open to random Twitter followers. There are most likely people and companies who watch Twitter lists in the hopes of gaining financially from them; they reach out to people with whom they have no real connection once they have found them on one of the lists. This can certainly be annoying on the receiving end. As with any other social media channel, you should try to eliminate followers who don’t have any real connection with you.

Twellowhood

Twellowhood is an application of Twellow. Twellowhood helps people find other people in specific parts of the world. The application is very useful if you are trying to sell products and/or services to a local market.

Conclusion

The more used to technology we become and the more comfortable we get, the more intuitive and clever the tools that are being offered become. Twitter was novel and clever enough when it first came to everyone’s everyone. Twellow and its applications are positively brilliant when it comes to increasing the success of your business. There are so many things that are being introduced all of the time; it is high time that you take advantage of as many as them as possible.

Mike, I tried to get on Twellow, but it does not seem to be accessible. Is this temporary?

It is indeed a great feature and useful. But access is limited to Europe, North America and Australia. Twellowhood needs to upgrade to other countries soon! =)
