Staying Calm in the Face of a Writing Commitment

It is a very good thing that you have committed to writing a certain number of blogs each week. It is good for you and it is good for your business. However, if you don’t have a calm, reasonable outlook about the writing, you may become overwhelmed. That is the last thing that you want to happen. It won’t do you any good and it certainly won’t do the quality of the writing any good either.

Your strategy for staying calm

The fact that you have made a commitment to writing weekly blogs is in and of itself a wonderful (and often challenging) thing. If you are a busy person (assuming that things are going well with your business), your commitment to writing can be potentially overwhelming.

However, you can find ways to remain calm in the face of that pressure and still deliver the amount of content that needs to be delivered. One thing that should be abundantly clear to you is that the content that you write for your business are not fluff and they are not for fun. Their purpose is clear and it is significant. You are writing and posting your blogs in order to increase your business’ success and (eventually) your revenue.

It is extremely important that you stay true to your mission when it comes to blog writing. If you truly understand the big picture, you will have solid focus as to why you need to keep with it. The fact is that social media is here to stay and if you are not a part of it, you will be left in the dust. With that in mind, there are several ways that you can manage the feeling of being overwhelmed.

  • Remain consistent at all times: An extremely important thing to remember is that relationships are at the heart of your social media success. In order to build solid relationships, you must give to the other person on a regular, consistent basis. That is critical to your success because you want the other person to get used to reading your top-quality, relevant content and, before too long, that person will come to expect it. That is exactly why you should post your content on the same day(s) and at the same time(s) each week.

If you feel overwhelmed by the concept of writing, posting, and syndicating your blog content each week, you can break it down into smaller increments. You may be surprised at how much more manageable it seems when you do that. You can set aside 20 minutes three times a week and you will be done for the week. Now, that isn’t too bad, is it?

  • Keep your eye on the goal: First of all, it is important for your to understand that you are in it for the long haul. When you make a commitment, you make a commitment on a permanent (or, at least, long-term) basis. That means that you need to find a way to manage the stress that goes with that commitment. Interestingly (and, perhaps, surprisingly), after you have gotten some experience under your belt, it will probably take you less time than you think to manage the entire process. If and when you start to feel overwhelmed, remember that you can take the simplistic approach and accomplish one task at a time. If you do that, you will not be nearly as overwhelmed (or overwhelmed at all).

  • The formula is yours and yours alone: It is important for you to understand that what works for someone else may not work for you. It is up to you to come up with the precise formula that works well for your particular business. You may want to try different things that have worked for others and you may find that they also work for your business or you may come up with your own ideas. After all, nobody knows what your business needs better than you do. You may also discover over time that what you started doing, in the beginning, has evolved because your business has evolved and you have to approach your strategy differently.

  • Repurpose your content whenever possible: There is nothing wrong with repurposing content that you wrote previously, as long as it is relevant and not time-sensitive. Doing that doesn’t make you lazy or unambitious. It makes you sensible and smart. If you spend less time creating original content, you will have more time for other things that are also valuable and important. It can certainly help you not to feel so overwhelmed as well. If you use repurposed content, you will feel as though you have more control over your content.

Conclusion

Although it is very easy to feel overwhelmed by the commitment that you have made to your business by way of content, if you follow the tips provided here, you may not feel so overwhelmed and you may feel as though you are more in control. You certainly have nothing to lose by trying. If you have a simplistic, methodical approach, you will be able to handle it. You will find your balance before too long and everything will run smoothly.
