Perfecting Your Email Marketing Campaign

If you have been sitting on your Email marketing strategy, it is high time you get off the chair and do something about it.

Do your homework

Undoubtedly, leveraging a successful Email marketing campaign is not always easy. It takes time and effort (sometimes more and sometimes less). If you are dormant at the moment when it comes to your Email marketing campaign, there are some things that you can do to make a difference and to achieve positive results for your business. Ultimately, you want a greater number of people to pay attention to what you are doing and to become loyal followers (and, eventually, loyal customers).

  • Content is king: Just at it has always been, content is king. It is through your content that you reach other people and that you are able to express exactly what you need and want to express about your business, your brand, and your offerings. However, your content should be clear, concise, and compelling. Additionally, your content should tell your readers (aka, your target audience) exactly what you want them to do and exactly how they can start to interact with you. Also, it won’t hurt if you let them know that time is of the essence.

Interestingly, when a sense of urgency is conveyed, the other person generally reacts quickly and give the person who is asking for something that he or she wants without too much delay.

When it comes to the name and Email address that you put in the Email, it should be your real name. You need to give the other person the chance to interact with a real person after all. Also, remember that you have a responsibility to respond to the other person no matter what. Otherwise, you will not have a chance at any sort of relationship.

  • Your call-to-action: Your call-to-action (CTA) is a critical part of your content because it is the bridge between you and the other person. You should bear in mind that your CTA doesn’t necessarily have to be the same every time. In fact, you should try to mix it up as much as you can so that it continues to be interesting and attractive to the other person.

Another thing to remember is that you don’t have to place the CTA in the same exact spot in your content every time you write. One that that is certain is that you need to make your CTA compelling and magnetic each time. It needs to draw the attention of your reader every time. You may also wish to consider using some sort of graphic image. It will most likely grab the attention of your readers and it will definitely be memorable for them.

If you aren’t sure if your CTA will do the trick with your readers, you can test it. You can select a small number of readers and do a survey to determine if that CTA is effective and grabs their attention. Back to the images for a second, the reason that they are effective is not just that they are pretty. It is because many people are visual and images stick with them more effectively than words do.

  • Choose your subject line carefully: Keywords and key phrases are extremely important to your brand. The subject line in your Email should have rich, effective keywords or key phrases in them. That will be the reason why your readers read your Email all the way to the end. You should also use words that convey urgency so that the reader reacts quickly. You should be driven by the same philosophy with your subject line as with the rest of your writing. You should keep the wording clear and concise.

In this day and age of people not having the time or the patience to read long-winded content, it can be very effective if your writing is tight and packs a punch. You can write an effective subject line that contains just a few words. However, make sure that the words that you choose really count.

  • Timing is everything: You should choose when to send your Emails very carefully. Weekends are a good choice because people are not rushing around on the weekend (generally). If you don’t want to send your Emails on the weekend, try to do it at the end of the work day so that they have a better chance of being read.

Conclusion

You may not always see the value of an Email marketing campaign; however, it actually holds a lot of value. Your investment is time and effort, which you would make no matter what. It is an easy way to allow interactions to occur. Everyone has Emailed and everyone reads Email. Also, it will not eat into your budget.  You just need to make sure that you send Emails that the recipient wants to read.
