If you have just formed a new business and you are in the process of forming your content marketing plan, there is an easy way to successfully make that happen. You can create and execute a straightforward, simple plan that will work well for your business.

The steps to follow to make it happen

You may be asking yourself how you should get started to launch your content marketing campaign. Sometimes, the most intimidating thing of all is the blank sheet of paper. However, if you follow the simple suggestions that you will learn here, you will be fine and your content marketing campaign will be up and running and producing results before you even know what happened.

The first thing that you should consider is how you are going to capture the attention of other people. The majority of businesses have some sort of web presence, whether it is a website (which most businesses have in addition to other things online). That is definitely a good thing. However, it is critical to your professional success that your web presence is not so promotional that it turns other people off the minute they visit. You need to make sure that you achieve a balance between being informative and conveying clearly how you will be able to solve the other person’s problems.

Make sure that you tell your story effectively

The truth is that everyone needs to have a story. In fact, everyone has a story. It is really just a matter of how effectively you are able to tell your story and how other people react to what you are sharing with them. It is extremely important that you successfully touch your audience on an emotional level. If you are not able to do that, you won’t get very far with them. In fact, you probably won’t be able to get anywhere with them. They need to read about something that touches them in some way. If they can’t relate to what you are sharing, they will go to someone else to satisfy those needs.

When you are at the point where you are ready to share your content marketing materials, you need to make sure that all of your materials are effective and that they align perfectly.

There are several logical steps that you will want to follow as you are structuring your content marketing campaign:

  • You will plan your strategy and other components: Before you can put anything at all on paper, you absolutely must do your homework, come up with concepts, and form some sort of a strategy that will work for your particular business.

  • Begin to develop your content marketing campaign: Once you have figured out what you want your strategy to be, your next step will be to actually develop the content and manage the results that occur as a result of your sharing that information.

  • Now it is time to optimize your content: If anyone tries to convince you that optimizing your content is no longer important and that it will not contribute to the success of your business, don’t listen to them. Optimization is still extremely important for your business. People will continue to perform searches and they will only find  you if you rank high on the search engine pages.

  • Sharing your content marketing materials and spreading them around is essential: There is not a great deal to say about this to convince you. You should just understand that if you don’t get your materials out there, nobody will see what you are offering and what you stand for. If that happens, where will you be?

  • Pay close attention to analytics: Your analytics are critical to your business’s success. They will be instrumental in guiding your content marketing campaign.

Conclusion

Your content marketing campaign is essential to your success as a business owner. If you follow the steps that are outlined here, you will achieve positive, lasting results with your marketing materials and you will be able to bring your business to the next level with minimal effort. It is important that you follow the steps in a logical order. You should start by defining your objectives, identifying your audience, grabbing opportunities as they are presented, and constantly work on your marketing campaign in an effort to improve it over time. Make sure that your marketing materials are compelling, valuable, and educational. If they hold a great deal of value,  other people will respond positively to your efforts.

In my experience it comes down to where the audience is. Promotion depends on what social platforms they’re on most.

Excellent points! A content marketing strategy should start with this question: what does my market WANT from my posts? It’s not about you, it’s about them. Always. That’s how you build trust. Once you determine this, see if you can come up with a variety of topics for 10 posts that will interest your market. If you can do that then you’re on the right track. Make sure the headlines are not misleading just to grab good SEO and manipulate prospects into clicking on your posts. Make sure your posts aren’t thinly disguised promo posts. Give your market exactly what it wants (whatever that might be) and your content strategy will not only delight your readers but will also help you reach your marketing goals.

I read enough to get a feel for what’s top of mind in my business each week and create blogs that offers insight and opinion on that issue. I alternate that with blatant self promotion, because after all, my blog is a marketing tool.

Goals > required outcome > tactical implementation (writing the content, posting it etc)> measurement (what worked, what got shared, what met the goal)
