Determining Blog Frequency for Your Business

By now, you probably realize the importance for blogging for your business. However, you may not have figured out the correct formula when it comes to how frequently you should be blogging for maximum results.

 The advantages of a blog

A blog serves several different purposes. A blog can be instrumental in building relationships with target audience members, it can help you to increase awareness for your brand, it can help you to build relationships with prospective clients, it can help you to generate new leads, it can put you at (or near) the top of the search engine pages, and it can turn you into an influencer in your niche or industry.

So, now that you have a clear understanding of what a blog can do for your business and why it is so important for you to have one, it is time to determine how often you need to blog in order to achieve the best results for you business that you can possibly achieve. You may feel that you have a pretty good idea about how often is often enough (or how often is even perfect for your particular business). If you are just not sure about the frequency, you may have sought answers to that question from other people and maybe you were not satisfied with the response.

Before you actually come up with a number, you should consider the following factors:

  • Take a realistic look at your weekly schedule: You will not be able to commit to a specific number of blogs per week before you actually figure out how much time you have available to commit to blogging. If you do make a commitment before you have been able to come up with how much time you can comfortably devote to blogging, you will not be able to stick to that commitment.

In that case, it will not serve any positive purpose. If you are even able to accomplish whatever number of blogs you set out to write and post, the quality may not be what you want it to be. There is absolutely no point in sharing mediocre blogs for any reason. It is better not to write any at all than to do that. However, you should keep in mind that once you have settled on a particular number of blogs per week, you must maintain consistency and make sure that you write the same number each week. People will start to count on your doing that and that is exactly what you want.

  • Always choose quality over quantity: There is no doubt that the number of blogs that you post each week is a very important aspect of your content marketing strategy. However, you should never sacrifice the number of blogs for the quality of your blogs. If you find that the number that you felt you could handle originally isn’t working because you start to realize that the writing is not top notch, lower the number. It is guaranteed that your readers would prefer to read fewer better-quality blogs than more that are not great. Ironically, it may take you more time to write fewer, better-quality blogs because you will probably spend more time on making the blogs that you do write as perfect as possible.

When it comes to actually posting and syndicating the blogs that you do write, you will need to designate a specific amount of time for that as well. Once you get comfortable with that part of the process, it shouldn’t take you very long at all to accomplish that. If you can handle once a week to start, you should do that for a while. Once you see that things have been going smoothly for a while, you may want to increase your efforts to twice a week.

  • Blogging benefits your business: It has been shown that businesses that maintain a consistent blogging practice have more traffic (existing and new) than businesses that don’t do that. The more you blog, the more you are able to increase traffic to your business’ website. That means a significant increase in traffic. The truth is that if you consistently blog once a week, you will see positive results but if you do more than that, you will see even better results. In this case, results mean more leads, prospects, loyal clients, etc. In this day and age of instant information all of the time, you must communicate in the same way as other people in order to keep up.

Conclusion

When you first started blogging for business, you may not have understood the critical nature of blogging frequently and consistently. However, for all of the reasons mentioned here, you will see that if you follow that plan, the results will be amazing. Basically, you will get out of it what you put into it. The more you blog, the more you will create chances to elevate your business’ ranking in the search engines. Your blog is your calling card in many ways. It speaks for you and it allows you to build valuable, enduring relationships.
