Converting Blog Readers Into Clients

By now, you are probably an expert blog writer. The more you blog, the better you will become at blogging. One thing that is for sure is that blogging (if you do it right) is a big responsibility. Remember, responsibility is not always a bad thing. It puts you in control of your own professional fate. People will read your blogs and you will build a relationship with them. Subsequently, they will trust you and eventually buy from you.

Going from Point A to Point B

Because of the fact that blogging is such a big responsibility, it is important to make the most of the time and effort that you do spend on blogging. Additionally, you want your blogging efforts to pay off in ways that will help you to bring your business to the next level. There are several different ways to do just that.

  • Become well acquainted with your target audience: It is important to be aware of the fact that your target audience drives your blog content. In some ways, you are actually the instrument of communication. Your target audience will let you know what they want to read about and the relevance of those topics to them. Your job is to execute what they need you to execute. Actually, if your audience supplies you with topics, that is helpful in many different ways. One of the ways in which it is helpful is that it eliminates writer’s block, if that is an issue for you. If you really take the time to get to know your target audience, you will start to really understand what they want and need on a deeper level. That doesn’t just mean in a superficial way. It means that you will start to understand finer details and nuances that only come with your knowing someone very well. It is totally worth the time and effort that you will spend to accomplish that.

You should always keep WIIFM (What’s In It For Me?) in mind. In other words, it doesn’t matter how great you and your business are. All that matters is that you have the ability to solve the other person’s problem. If you can accomplish that, you will be good to go. It is very true that you will be able to build relationships with your target audience through your content. Your content, if you do it right, will compel your target audience members to interact with you on a deeper level. Getting to know the members of your target audience means that you learn demographic details about them and really get to know them as humans. They are so much more than just a number.

  • Identify blog topics that are close to their hearts: When identifying topics about which to write, it will be effective for you to choose topics that resolve issues. Those types of topics will speak to people who have a problem but who also have no idea how to solve that problem. Your job in that situation is to identify what the problem is but not to give away the entire store (yet). Once you have identified the problem, the next thing that you will want to do is to offer some sort of solution to that problem.

Make sure that it is an easy, effective solution and that the approach to solving that problem is simple and easy to execute. It is a simple equation of action and result. Another important thing to remember is to always include a call-to-action (CTA) in each of your blogs (at least one). The CTA is critical because it is the only way that your target audience member has to interact with you. Otherwise, the other person reads your blog and that is the end of it.

  • Keep the target audience’s buying habits in mind when you write: Considering that you are writing with the target audience in mind, it is important also to keep in mind the precise buying habits of your target audience as well. If that all comes to together for you, let your content do the rest. When considering your target audience’s buying habits, you should keep in mind that they follow steps in a specific order. First of all, there is a need for a particular product and/or service. The next thing that will happen is that the person will investigate that product and/or service so that they can identify the best one for them (by process of elimination). Once that has been identified, the person will then be in a position to narrow the decision down to one choice. All that is left at that point is to buy the product and/or service. The best time to appeal to the target audience member in this process is when that person is in the beginning stage of research, be he or she has actually made any decision.

  • Format your blogs appropriately: We are living in a fast-paced world. That means that people don’t have time or they are not willing to spend time on most things. If they can’t get instant gratification, they will walk away, uninterested. One of the ways that you can make a positive difference is by formatting your blogs in such a way that the content can be skimmed quickly. You can accomplish this by writing clear, concise paragraphs; use bullets, shorts lists, etc., whenever you can; make sure that your font is easy to read; and use graphic images effectively so that the content is as appealing as possible.

Conclusion

Content and social media are both all about the relationship. If you build the relationship with the other person, you will begin to build trust between you and you will start to share common emotional/human experiences that will take you both very far indeed. Remember to always keep the relationship, and not the revenue, in mind first. After that, you can focus on your ultimate goal, which is to increase your return on investment. If you discover that your target audience members are not buying from you in the end, you will need to identify why that is and fix it.
