Reddit may come up often in your business conversations with colleagues. Many people use Reddit for business and it is a great tool that is worth exploring. If you use it consistently, you can boost your business’s exposure and reputation.

First of all, it is important to understand exactly what Reddit is, how it works, and how you can take advantage of it for your business. Reddit is a social media channel that deals with news where people can post links to content online. Once you have posted your content, other people can vote for the content, which will affect whether the content appears more prominently or less prominently. Reddit also has areas where people can interact by leaving comments. If a discussion gets enough attention (through comments), it will be displayed by default. This can work with discussions that get positive or negative publicity. Interestingly, Reddit also has sections called “subreddits,” which concentrate on specific topics, such as programming, politics and science.

Reddit is a very popular social media tool that has a profound influence on online communities. Although many people have a good idea about what Reddit is and how it works, they may not be aware of some of the more sophisticated and exciting features that are not necessarily obvious.

The highlights

If you are connected to Reddit online, you will have access (literally at your fingertips) to the front page, which will show you the best articles for that day. That will prove to be extremely valuable. In addition to daily “best of”s, Reddit gathers the best articles from its staff members and this will allow you to get the best articles from the entire year in one place. Some of the articles that may be included in that list are innovations, accounts of novelties, social communities, success stories and humorous articles. This is a valuable feature because chances are great that you might have missed at least a few throughout the year at some point.

Subreddits

As was mentioned above, Reddit has sections of subcommunities, which encourage all sorts of content on a variety of topics. There is a list of 800 Subreddits available online if you don’t want to waste a great deal of time drilling down until you find what you are looking for. The list will enable you to find exactly what you are looking for in an incredibly short amount of time. This is definitely a feature that is worth exploring carefully.

Reddit memes

A meme is defined as an idea, style or behavior that is transmitted from person to person in a given culture. Memes gain popularity in a similar manner to how a video goes viral. One person shares it with another and another and another, etc. What was originally shared may have very little resemblance to the end result (or product). It is sort of like the telephone game.

An exchange of gifts

The members of the Reddit community are known to be giving and generous. They don’t have any problem helping out other members of the community if there is a need. All you need to do is ask and you will see that you will get the help that you need. Its members seem to be spontaneously generous and expect nothing in return. It is a “pay it forward” concept.

Exciting features

There are many features that Reddit offers, which are unique and valuable to a large number of people.

  • Reddit tips: These are tips that Reddit offers. The tips are about life, not just about the social media tool. They are absolutely worth exploring and the advice is sound in many cases. You will most likely find the tips to be beneficial and extremely helpful.

  • Imgur: This is an image hosting site, just in case you are looking for images to use.

  • Radio Reddit: This is very cool and has lots of nice features.

  • University of Reddit: This offers all sorts of interesting (and educational) information.

  • Reddit Jobs: This is very useful.

Conclusion

Reddit is an extremely useful social media tool, which you should take advantage of for your business if it fits into your strategy. You are given the opportunity to submit original content and get votes from other members of the Reddit community. You need to check it out and get to know all that it has to offer so that you can benefit from it and become an even greater success because of it.

The problem here is trying to 'game' the system. Like with SEO, the content is what will get you noticed, not the techniques.

Reddit is problematic. I have it on my blog and everytime I try to post to it it tells me that I have tried to add too many links and to check back in an hour even though I have not tried to post on it for a day or two. They also everytime I fill out the captcha it says that I have done it wrong,. I have sent numerous messages to managment and they ignore me and don't contact me back. In a word, Reddit is a complete Ripoff IN MY BOOK

Carolyn, I have found that Reddit is a hit or miss community. While some days my submissions get a handful of reads, others have quickly gotten views.

Discussion: Using Reddit to Increase Your Exposure

I have posted several things on Reddit – and had very little response, other than the first one. Very often, I am told that I have submitted too many links. So I am not sure how to really get out there via this particular Social Site.
