Now, if you are famous, published, with an agent that might be a different story. FB helps consolidating a fan-base that is already there, scattered but there. They would buy your book, visit your website and blog, with or without FB.

Yes it is! We have to examine ourselves and our activities on Facebook and determine to make it work for us - not just for Mr. Zuckerberg. Based on that realization - I do have an idea for a simpple universal solution based on my interest in health and my concern about the wealth gap of 22 to 1 between black and white Americans. If you have any ideas on how to utilize FB - I would appreciate your help.

Although; I prefer to keep the two sites completely separate, without links. Careful is safer. You never know what someone might post post to your page; thinking it's cute , but could be a detriment !!

I know I need to join Facebook, but I keep putting it off. Between my blog and Twitter, I feel I already devote so much time to social media--time that I probably should spend writing. But I suppose it's about time I do so.

IMHO Facebook won't help you sell a single book! I have been there, done that and that is a fact!. I have been online for a long time and will let you on a secret. Selling books online is done by Search Engine friendly titles and subtitles. Other than that, pray that your book sells well enough for bookstore to order it. Or just try to find and Agent.

Whilst I agree that Facebook is extremely far reaching and could be an excellent marketing tool. I can't help but feel that due to the personal uses of Facebook, and the fact that proffesional individuals act differently away from work, it is not as effective as you wish it to be, and in some cases could be seen as unprofessional? Would be interesting to here views on this.
