The Importance of Online Exposure

The way that people build exposure is very different than what used to be. Before the technical revolution, people would meet for coffee or lunch and get to know to each other. Now, they connect online. Their exposure is critical.

People are still having coffee; however, not necessarily together in person. The relationships that people are maintaining are still just as real as they have ever been. It is just that they are being maintained in a different way. When it comes to online exposure and connecting with other people through the Internet, you have the power to reach many more people at once and you can get your message to them effectively. Online communications have taken over where face-to-face communication used to be. It is; however, important to understand that online interactions and face-to-face interactions should work in tandem. One without the other doesn’t have the potency and won’t achieve the successful results unless they work together. This is the age of instant gratification. People want information and they want it now. Not only do people want it that way but they expect it and that is how they function comfortably.

The preferred news source

People need to be informed of what is going on in the world. In fact, some people are positively addicted to it. One of the main sources where people like to turn is the Internet for that type of information. Many people like to use several different sources for news and the Internet is definitely counted among those sources. Many, many people use the most popular search engines to get their news (such as Google, Yahoo, and Bing, to name a few) several times in any given week. The way in which the news is presented online is very convenient to readers also. The topics are clear and concise and the resources are easily identified. When news is presented online, there are usually links that lead to other interesting information.

Advertising and promotion

Advertising and promotion online has an array of possibilities. It is presented differently than it would be with traditional advertising; however, it is no less effective. If your promotional content is presented compellingly and properly, it will grab your readers and will entice them to continue to read whatever you are sharing with them. Even if your readers are not immediately led to your website, they can still have valuable content at their fingertips that will expose them to what you and your business represent and what you are offering.

Writing different types of content

If you write a blog article and you post and syndicate it, you don’t need to worry about how long it will be available to people who are searching for information within the confines of the topic about which you have written. The article will be available online for a very long time to come (months, and possibly even longer). The more information that originated with you online, the stronger your reputation and online exposure will be.

Conclusion

It is obvious that the Internet is here to stay. People have gotten so comfortable with using technology and with interacting with one another online. It certainly is much more serious than a passing fad. As a business owner, it is important that you recognize the reality of the Internet for what it is. You must also recognize how important your online exposure is to your success. How you present yourself online will give your reputation unlimited power.  It is a powerful and really incredible tool that has the ability to help you and your business to become even more successful than you have been up to this point.

I sort of agree. Online exposure is important and must be a part of your overall marketing and selling strategy.

Having said that, I still feel that there is no substitute for face to face, eyeball to eyeball contact. What is the tone of my voice? Am I smiling? Am I focusing on you as you talk or am I looking around the room? Am I pleasant to speak with or am I an A*hole? All of this does not necessarily come across online or in an e-mail.

I see the younger generation (I can' believe I just said that) losing this with Facebook and such.

Old fashioned thinking, maybe…..but mixing the new with the old is not such a bad thing.

Nice article, Carolyn. Thanks for sharing. We're all for increasing our online presence, but we still like face-to-face when possible. We get so much more from a client in person than we do over the internet, via e-mail, or on the telephone.

On line exposure, though the term sounds obscene, is critical to all businesses. Websites social media portals have replaced the traditional means for promoting company and products. Anyone who is not aware of the new reality will be slowing pushing themselves out of business as time goes on.

While having your online exposure is critical, as a marketing channel, what are your thougths as a genuine revenue making opportunity? For a goods and products business I see this absolutley, though for a Services oriented company I am curious on your thoughts.

It has always been difficult to quantify the dollar value received from an ad campaign or marketing strategy. In overall terms you can ascertain whether a campaign was successful or not, but putting a dollar value on it has always been an iffy proposition.

An inarguable fact though, is that you need to incorporate online marketing as part of your overall strategy.
