    Good points here especially about content being consistent and frequent. When I first had my Facebook business page I didn't have a clue what to do with it but a bit of research and a lot of practice led me to the conclusion that people will follow you if you are posting worthwhile information, tips and advice regularly. just don't over kill on sales pitches!

    I run a marketing and support group for freelance writers, and I'd love to spread the word on Facebook. But what is the protocol for that? I get the sense that it';s uncool to tweet a blatant advertisement for yourself (although a lot of people do).

      It depends on yhour approach. There is nothing wrong with telling people about your offerings as long as you don’t do it in an overpowering or offensive manner. Facebook is an excellent tool for business. We use it all of the time.
