Editing your blog posts is of the utmost importance. However, very few people actually edit their blog articles before they post them. Perfect shows attention to detail and high-quality work.

It is not good enough if you just have good ideas. You need to be able to express those ideas well. The expression is a close second to the ideas themselves. It is generally a good idea, if possible, to have another person edit your content in addition to you. As good as the writing may be, the writer will inevitably miss something in his or her blog content because he or she knows what the content is supposed to say and may miss errors.

The following are important reasons why you need to edit your blog postings:

Correcting typos: Correcting typos is obvious for most people. If you leave typos in your blog content, you will start to lose a large percentage of your audience and you will also lose your credibility with those visitors who don’t leave right away. Those visitors who decide to stay and thus, remain loyal to you, deserve better than content that is less than perfect.

Writing with your readers in mind: Once you have written your blog post, step back from it for a day and then read it again. There are always ways that you will be able to improve upon what you wrote yesterday.

Adding more images: Sometimes it is difficult to find the perfect image for your content. Images are really inconsequential when it comes to rankings in the search engines and thus does not really affect your volume of traffic. However, images really help to make blog postings attractive to visitors, which will make them want to keep reading.

Only regenerating old blog postings: It is understandable that constantly writing original (and fresh) content can be difficult, depending on how often you post. It is acceptable to recycle content sometimes (of course, you need to make sure that the articles that you are recycling haven’t been used in several months) but you also need to make the effort to come up with new ideas to incorporate into your blog postings.

Optimizing search engine visibility: It is probably safe to assume that one of your goals in business is to drive more traffic to your website. That certainly is a great argument for editing your blog postings before you publish them. You can track the reason why people visit your blog through analytics. Your keywords are essential and if you have errors, the visitors will not be able to find you.

Incorporating feedback from your visitors: If you write interesting and quick (and error free) blog postings, you will eventually get comments from some of your visitors. You may want to include the comments that you receive from your visitors in subsequent blog postings. Sometimes, your visitors’ comments may inspire a whole new blog posting. In other cases, you may want to incorporate visitors’ comments into already-existing blog postings.

Creating permanently valuable blog content: Once you have created blog content, it will exist forever. Although online content can be edited or tweaked as much as you like, if well written, it should have a lasting effect on those who read it. Enticing visitors to visit your website is the most difficult part of the process so you want to make sure that once the visitors decide to spend the time on your website; their visit is as wonderful as possible. Additionally, it is very important to make sure that your visitors see relevant content if they are directed to any material that has been archived from links on your website.

Conclusion

Hopefully, you now understand why editing your blog postings before you post them or going back and carefully editing older blog postings is so important. It strengthens your credibility and reputation online and makes a strong statement on how much you care about the quality of what you are sharing with others.

Please remember that editing is necessary for all writing. It doesn’t matter if you are an experienced writer or a new writer. It doesn’t matter if you write technical papers or novels. All types of written word must be edited.

On the Internet, leads usually mean email addresses of people who are interested in your business and the promotion is done through email marketing. The approach is quite simple. Marketers write an eBook that is relevant to their business and then promote it over the Internet. In order to get the word out, they will advertise the eBook on their website and/or blog. The marketers may also place classified advertisements on other business’ websites about their goods and services, paying them affiliate income.

One of the ways in which lead generation is done over the Internet is by giving away free gifts, such as eBooks.

As an inbound marketing tool, an eBook’s main purpose is to increase site traffic and act as a source of lead and audience generation. eBooks should be basic and interesting enough that non-experts understand and learn from them.

Internet visitors are generally very interested when they see free offers being advertised and eBooks are especially appealing because they always represent real value to the consumers. The Internet visitors will certainly try to click on the link and download the free eBook. This is where the process of lead generation is introduced.

When the Internet visitor clicks on the link, it will not take them directly to the page of the eBook download. They will arrive first at a webpage that will ask for their email address. That page will tell the visitor that if they provide their contact information (including email ids), a great deal of additional (and valuable) information will be available to them. Of course, the Internet visitors won’t mind providing their contact information because the reward will be to receive free things. This type of page is known as a landing page, lead capture page, or squeeze page.

Quality landing pages use success stories that the prospect would relate to when making a buying decision. As a general rule, Internet Marketers try to keep the content on their landing pages to a minimum. The goal of the page is to obtain the visitor’s email address; additional information could distract the user or cause them to "Click-Away" to a different website. Navigation and hyperlinks are almost always absent from typical landing pages. The absence of links is used to focus visitors’ attention on one choice: register for the email list or leave the site. Savvy internet marketers have discovered that convincing a visitor to sign up for an email list provides an opportunity to present that visitor with multiple sales messages over time, develop a relationship, and even cross-sell other related products.

After the visitor puts in his or her email address on the landing page, he or she will be redirected to the page from where the download can occur for the free eBook. At this point, the marketer has the email addresses of the Internet users who have taken advantage of the free eBook. In other words, the marketer now has a list of email opt-in leads, which can be used for additional promotions, such as email marketing.

Here are some tips for writing effective eBooks for lead generation:

Know your objectives. What is your goal in writing your eBook? Clearly you want to generate leads and increase your database, but you should also have an audience takeaway goal. What impression are you trying to convey for your company, brand, or product and what response do you want from your audience? Are you looking to position yourself as the expert in your industry? Are you offering tips on a niche topic in hopes that your prospects will contact you to learn even more? Are you looking for a more interesting way of sharing your story or trying to establish your profile in the business community? Or maybe you’re looking to create awareness for your brand/product in a way that is helpful to your audience rather than promotional. Knowing your objective will help you set the tone for your eBook.

KISS. Keep it short and simple. No one wants to read your 300-page eBook, and keep this in mind as you decide on a topic. Identify specific topics that will limit the scope of your writing. Fifteen to thirty pages should be more than enough for most eBooks. Remember, you aren’t writing a sales manual or company promotional material; instead, you are writing to capture and engage readers. With that in mind, don’t write in over-complicated language when things can be explained simply.

Name your eBook. Done in tandem with identifying your goals and settling on a topic, choosing a title will give your eBook some structure. You won’t be inclined to digress too much from the concept of your eBook if you’ve already figured out a compelling title. And don’t be afraid of subtitles, especially if this is a business eBook. Subtitles increase your SEO rankings and more accurately describe what the reader is interested in.

Write quality content. Yes, eBooks are downloaded for free (or in exchange for your reader’s email address), but people are coming to your site for a reason. Give them good-quality writing and show them that you are the expert that they think you are.

Hire an editor. Although an eBook may not seem like an official document, you want to be sure that it is edited thoroughly. A professional editor can check for consistency of tone, grammatical errors, and anything else that might make your reader dwell more on the writing than the content.

Design. eBook design is just as important as eBook copy. Sometimes it is even more important. A text-heavy, badly designed eBook will turn off your online readers, who have gotten used to stimulating, interactive online content. If you want to engage them, hire a professional designer to establish the look of your eBook. Use graphics and images in addition to the text, and don’t try to pack too much text onto any given page.

Add an appropriate copyright license message to your finished eBook to let your audience know that they can share your copyrighted material. You can use a tool such as Creative Commons to accomplish this.

Promote your eBook. You should promote your eBook anywhere and everywhere that you can. Tweet about it, post it on Facebook, share it with your LinkedIn groups, blog about it, and send it out to your established network.

First of all, a well thought out, well written, and well edited document is easy to read. The content flows without any difficulty. That concept is true of all writing, online or otherwise.

Now, let’s discuss editing online content. Editing online content is crucial to the success of the medium, whether it is a website or a blog. The volume of online media is multiplying very rapidly. Numerous new sites are created every day and many of those sites may be in direct competition with your site.

Your website design may be innovative and cutting edge, you may have an extraordinarily perfect product or service, you might have a very appealing price and a wealth of information. However, if the way in which you communicate all you have to offer suffers from mediocre editing, you will not be able to make the impact that you are trying to achieve.

It is essential that you website stands out and blows away your competition. Perfect editing is an extremely important way to ensure that you create that distinction.

Editing Provides Maximum Credibility

Your business needs customers who can trust you. If those customers are going to spend their money on your product or service, it is essential that they feel comfortable dealing with you. One of the ways that they will be comfortable is if they can count on your site to be credible and professional.

If there are mistakes in your content, your customers will lose confidence in your business. Many potential customers are skeptical about the Internet marketplace in general and if a visitor finds errors in your content, they may wonder if you are legitimate and serious about what you are offering.

It is a known fact that in a relatively anonymous setting, consumers prefer to deal with businesses that appear to be established, credible, and professional. A small mistake could potentially result in many lost opportunities.

Editing Reduces Misunderstanding and Confusion

If the content on your site is inaccurate or worded unclearly, it could cause confusion for visitors, which, in turn, could prevent the success of your business. Additionally, this could lead to misunderstandings that may cause customer service issues.

Your site presentation should convey a clear idea of what you are offering, what it accomplishes, and your policies and prices. If the message that you wish to convey is inadequate, that can inevitably lead to problems that cost both time and money to repair.

Editing Increases Visitor Base

You want a lot of qualified traffic and return visitors on your site. Savvy web surfers will most likely lose interest in your site quickly if they are not presented with clear and helpful information. Few visitors will spend the energy required to sort through what they believe to be a junk pile.

Mistakes destroy the credibility of your content and discourage visitors from initially visiting, as well as returning, to your site. Badly written content is difficult to read and difficult to trust. Well-edited content encourages repeat visitors and increases a site’s perceived value.

Not everyone is a professional editor, however. If you feel that your website content needs polishing and you don’t have the resources and/or skills to handle it in-house, you should seriously consider hiring a professional editing service to edit the content for you. There are many advantages to hiring professional editors to work on your website content. One of the main advantages is that you can concern yourself with the ideas behind the content while the editors make the language perfect and help you to present it in an eloquent manner on your website. There are several other advantages, of course, including being able to have the “perfect” content posted on your website more quickly and thus, more readily available to those who want to visit your site.

The rewards that can be reaped from high-quality editing definitely justify the painstaking process of getting your content to a point where it is flawless.

In an era of tweets, pokes and friend requests, keeping viewers attention to your Web site, which may not have features such as these, can be challenging. But learning how to use social media can be beneficial to your Web site and company in bringing traffic to your site and viewers interested in your products.

The A, B, C’s (or F, M, T’s) of Social Media
Facebook: Facebook has quickly grown to be one of the most used and most influential forms of social media. If you are hoping to master only one form of social media, I strongly suggest Facebook. It originated in the early 2000s as a social tool for college students, who were separated from their hometown friends or perhaps looking to meet new friends, to keep in touch. Originally, you needed an accredited college or university e-mail address to even log on to the site. Shortly after that, it expanded, allowing community colleges to join the network and soon, it expanded even more to what it is today, allowing adults, high school students and basically anyone who wants to be on Facebook to do so.

MySpace: MySpace was one of the very first social networking Web sites. My Space allows its users to not only to communicate through postings on each other’s pages, but to share music and other forms of media as well. Once upon a time, MySpace was not strictly monitored and became the subject of many legal debates about the dangers of social networking with strangers and child abuse via the Internet. Since then, MySpace has become a lot more restricted, allowing its users to register their profiles as "private" so that only their friends, whom they must accept personally, can view their profile. There are also now age restrictions, as well as content restrictions like on any other Web site, that apply to MySpace.

Twitter: Twitter is a new form of social medium that was developed not only as a social networking tool for its users to use at home, from their computers, but for the BlackBerry generation, or Gen. B as I like to call it, to use from their cell phones. While Twitter does not have as many features as Facebook or MySpace, the basic premise is that from the Web site, users are able to update short posts about what they are doing, called a "tweet." Someone who is following you on Twitter can then see your tweet, along with all the tweets from people they are following, on their home page.

So how can I make this work for me?
By taking advantage of these forms of social media, which are free of charge to use, you are allowing yourself to spread the word about you or your company. Joining these networks, and then obtaining as many "friends" as possible, allows you to keep your company’s name fresh not only in the minds of people who are familiar with your company, but those who are not as well. As often as you update your social networking pages is as often as your name pops up on their screen. Consider it free advertising that you can do from your own home on a daily basis with minimal effort.
